Interactive Map Tracks Decades of Tornado Data

Millions of Americans Live Inside Tornado Alley

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has been tracking tornadoes for decades. Now, the agency has compiled that data into an interactive map that allows users to see where tornadoes have touched down and track their paths of destruction from January 1950 to January 2024.

The map can be accessed by using the drop-down menus or map above. The tables contain the following information:

• Date of tornado
• Time of tornado
• Location of tornado
• Strength of tornado
• Path length of tornado
• Width of tornado
• Fatalities caused by tornado
• Injuries caused by tornado
• Damage caused by tornado
