City Close the Gap at the Top, Forest Remain Fourth-Bottom
Match Highlights
Manchester City closed the gap at the top of the Premier League table to one point with a 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon. The Citizens have a game in hand on leaders Arsenal, who drew 1-1 with Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.
Forest, meanwhile, remain fourth-bottom in the table, just one point above Luton. The Reds have now lost their last three league matches and have not won in their last five.
City's goals came from Erling Haaland and Bernardo Silva. Haaland opened the scoring in the 20th minute, heading home from a Kevin De Bruyne cross. Silva doubled the lead in the 83rd minute, finishing off a counter-attack led by Riyad Mahrez.
Forest had chances to get back into the game, but they were unable to find the back of the net. Brennan Johnson had a shot saved by Ederson in the first half, while Morgan Gibbs-White hit the post in the second half.
City's win sees them move up to 80 points, one behind Arsenal. Forest, meanwhile, remain on 29 points, fourth-bottom.
