Buffalo Bills Sign Wide Receiver Chase Claypool

Former Steelers Playmaker to Join Bills' Offense

By Jonathan Jones, May 3, 2024

The Buffalo Bills have signed wide receiver Chase Claypool to a one-year contract. The former Pittsburgh Steelers standout brings size, athleticism, and playmaking ability to the Bills' offense.

Claypool, 25, is a 6-foot-4, 238-pound wide receiver who has recorded over 2,000 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns in his NFL career. He was a second-round pick by the Steelers in 2020 and quickly emerged as one of the team's top playmakers.

In his debut season with Pittsburgh, Claypool caught 62 passes for 873 yards and nine touchdowns, also adding two rushing touchdowns. He continued to be a key part of the Steelers' offense over the next two seasons, providing a big target for quarterback Kenny Pickett.

Claypool's addition gives the Bills a much-needed boost to their receiving corps. The team lost wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the New York Jets in free agency and is looking for someone to fill his role as the team's primary target.

Claypool will compete with Gabe Davis, Jamison Crowder, and Isaiah McKenzie for playing time in the Bills' offense. His size and athleticism make him a potential breakout candidate in Buffalo's high-powered offense.
